Join JMEL

JMEL-logoHaving announced the call for papers yesterday for a Special Focus issue of the Journal of Media Enhanced Learning I now put out a call for people to help with the journal.

It is really important that this new MELSIG venture creates opportunities for people who have a great interest in the area of media enhanced learning but who may not feel that they have a lot of experience in contributing to its development beyond their own institution. MELSIG has a good track record of supporting people who have great ideas and energy but who a relatively new to working across a network.

We are looking for people who can help as:

  • Editorial group members – the JMEL editorial group is already forming but we would be interested in finding others who are willing to contribute to steering the success of the journal. Volunteers should have some experience of publishing in peer reviewed journal and should also have been involved in peer review activities. You should have a good feel for what the sector wants from a journal like JMEL.Please DM @andrewmid if you are interested in being part of the Editorial Group.
  • Peer Reviewers – JMEL is looking for people willing to blind peer review submitted papers for the Special Focus issues. Each submitted paper will be reviewed by two people. Guidance on peer reviewing will be provided. If you are interested in doing this you can register as a reviewer on the journal site. It is an option when you register. Please note: you will be asked for your areas of expertise or interest – please be specific and prolific in your response. Think about your own interest areas as much as about ‘expertise’. Think also about pedagogy as much media or technology – a good mix would be useful. The reason for this is that when we assign papers to reviewers the best place to find a reviewer is to match keywords on a paper with keywords given on reviewer profiles – this can be difficult!

Please also encourage colleagues to respond to this call and the call for papers too.

Having got the first issue of JMEL off the ground (publication date is the 16th October 2015) we also want ideas for the next Special Focus issue. DM me @andrewmid.
