Using Twalks on Field Trips

Twalks beyond the University

The twalk model suits the open space in which the walking group can venture beyond the usual boundaries of campus learning. In field-based studies students are often engaged as small groups which can be dispersed across a location. Whoever your students are, geographers, artistis or archaelogists, or from other disciplines engaged in spaces beyond campus, twalks can become a useful ‘space’ for field trips and fieldwork supporting activities that are full of potential for dealing with problems, capturing data, and sharing and comparing findings.

Personal devices and social media, and the twalk methodology can be used to induct students to the field study or they can be used as the basis, over a longer period of time, for the collaborative collection of evidence from a locale.
